Oh and one other thing, My teenager is now old enough to wash it for me and that is just terrific. ![]() In between the low coolant lights I still feel good when pulling up next to a junker. paint is fading, lots of little scratches, a few small grocery cart dings (man that irritates me), the roof rack is now dull and flaking, the siding is just hammered (looks a dozen shades of gray), the low coolant light comes on every two weeks now instead of three, and the molding on the rear inside passenger door has come loose somewhere because I can hear the wind starting to creep in. Well I am up to 63,000 miles now and my Jeep is really starting to show her age. I feel like I belong to some pathetic club (smiling). Has anyone out there found a resolution to any of these problems yet? I laughed out loud today while reading all the people that have the same problems with their JGC's. Pulled transmission to replace 3 freeze plugsMy name is Steve and I wrote the first read on this page regarding the Coolant leak, the wiper problem, the brake problem, the mileage problem, etc, etc. So with that said the following was replaced from this little outing. Hard to see, but here are some pics: I could not get a full on frontal shot, because I can’t remove the skid plate in the parking garage. When your radiator leaks, it’s best to replace it or have it repaired right away. I found that the previous owner had added a liquid head gasket repair to the radiator coolant. Once these were pulled, I changed every freeze plug on the engine. The freeze plugs had lost 80% of wall thickness. After a close inspection I found that they were not pushed out or split, they were rusted and basically paper thin. The cold snap that hit here in Texas was some of the issue but after getting into this I found more than expected.Īfter pulling the transmission I did find that 2 of the 3 freeze plugs were leaking. I just noticed that I have a slow coolant leak coming from my engine. The overall job was not that bad on time nor difficulty. I bought an automatic 2007 JK Sahara 3.8 with 79000 miles on it about 3 months ago. Sorry for the late update but wanted to show what I found. Great forum and information from what I have seen. Once the coolant reservoir tank is filled there is a stream about 3/8 inch in diameter coming from the same area and continues until the reservoir tank is empty. The vehicle sat for 3 days during a cold snap here and now the leak is progressively worse. 1 Elevated Coolant Temperature The most obvious symptom of a faulty water pump is an overheated engine. ![]() Radiator, hoses, coolant reservoir and water pump are not leaking, only the rear of the engine near the fire wall.
